What matters most in an automation tool

The automation of testing and RPA processes is a trend with strong growth in organizations. This movement has led many companies to join this initiative without having a proper process for the selection of an automation tool that fits the reality and possibilities of each business and allows them to achieve their goals.

To determine how well received this trend is by companies in the region and to find out what are the most valued aspects of an automation tool, we recently conducted a survey.

We consulted more than 200 people from Latin America, responsible for technology and innovation areas and those who actively participate in QA tasks in different companies. One of the questions was, about the type of software testing they perform and this was the result:

Thus, we see that most organizations already perform automated testing. However, there is still a high percentage of companies that maintain traditional manual testing practices. Our vast experience in the software quality industry allows us to ensure that the ideal and most appropriate is to maintain a balance, where, without a doubt, automation plays an increasingly important role for those test cases where regression, validation of business-critical functionality and integration to DEVOPS methodologies are on the table.

We believe that although test and process automation - RPA - is a trend that is growing exponentially in organizations, a poorly chosen or incorrectly implemented tool can jeopardize the remarkable benefits of this technique and cause complicated situations for the business.

When analyzing the results, it is striking that costs are not the most relevant variable. It is much more valued that it is a tool that is easy to use and learn, and that the benefit it provides is evident, i.e. that the time savings both in execution and in the process of designing and creating the automation itself is agile.

It is precisely in these two aspects where we have found that in Latin America a significant percentage of the companies that have experienced automation had to go through cobblestone roads.

The main barriers that companies argue when it comes to automation are:
  • They have found the implementation of projects of this nature very cumbersome.
  • Human resources are not ideal for robot programming.
  • Learning to use code-based tools is extremely complex as well as demanding for teams.
  • The maintenance of automations is a drain on resources.

Therefore, it is vital to change these paradigms and know how to choose a tool that offers an adequate user experience, that is so easy to learn that the time in the creation of the flows or processes to be automated is very reduced and the results are obtained quickly.

STELA is the tool that has enabled time savings of over 65% in execution and over 80% in robot construction.

As it is a ZERO CODE tool, no programming is required in the process of creating automations. The experience it provides is extremely friendly, allowing people of any profile to create robots and automate processes in just a few minutes. It allows the reuse of bots and their maintenance is solved in a simple way, with the possibility of handling different scenarios and the use of AI, which recognizes changes in the applications and allows the robot to regenerate and update automatically.

It is also a solution with the best return on investment as it not only automates tests but is also used to automate RPA processes at fair costs and tailored to the companies in the region.
